Attention, pour les utilisateur de pfsense et d'opnsense se basant sur FreeBSD 13, le driver if_bxe de base ne permet pas de négocier en 2500Mbps.
L'ancienne version patché en 12.X, qui permettait une négociation en 2500Mbps, ne fonctionne plus non plus en 13.X

J'ai joint ici le binair compilé if_bxe.ko sur la version 13.X du driver.

Je n'ai pu tester que sur opnsense 22.X, pas la moindre idée si c'est fonctionnel sur pfsense !

I am new here, although I want to thank you all for the amazing information you gathered here.

I'm an user from SFR in Portugal, and I ordered about two weeks ago a CarlitoxxPro SFP. Only after I came upon this topic.
I have a Mikrotik 3011 which I will probably upgrade into RB5009 soon.
The SFP arrived yesterday so I will start testing to avoid using the ISP equipments and improve the stability of my ftth.

One question that I'm curious, is there any new information if Mikrotik can support 2.5G SGMII. I understand the v2 SFP can, but I'm afraid I will be limited to 1Gbps SFP interface with RB3011 and RB5009 or any other.
I suppose there is always need for some kind of bridge between ONU GPON SFP and Mikrotik ?
Could for example a media converter "BlackBox LGC220A" convert the SFP (2.5GBase-X SGMII) into 2.5GBase-T, which I can then use in the 2.5G port on RB5009?

I will be happy to use 1Gbps alone, but if I can extract extra speed even better

Maximum offer is 1Gbps in Portugal, however I'd like to proof if 1Gbps is hardlimit set by OLT or if it's full GPON (I really hope the last)..

Hi Sorama,

Looks like Mikrotik will never support 2500BASE-X on their devices despite the hardware can afford it...
So yes you need to add a device supporting 2500BASE-X before your Mikrotik device.

Regarding "BlackBox LGC220A" media converter not sure if it can afford 2500BASE-X on SFP side. You need to ask the manufacturer...

When I see pricing of BlackBox LGC220A, I say you should buy some used ubiquiti 10G switch (if size is not a problem) : they are known to work with HSGMII (ES-16-XG or US-16-XG).

As written by Gnubyte in the first post, the CarlitoxxPro v2 is based on a Realtek chip, and only supports 1Gbps.
For 2.5Gbps, you need a SFP with a Lantiq chip : CarlitoxxPro v1, G-010S-A, MA5671A, ...

D'abord, grand merci à tous pour ce si long sujet fort enrichissant et merci Gnubyte pour avoir fait autant avance les choses.

Donc, ma ville vient d'être nouvellement fibré et je suis chez Orange Pro depuis hier avec une LB5.
J'avais déjà préparé en avance et donc tout ce qu'il faut dont un ONT FS, j'ai bien un PLOAM O5 mais pas de retour VLANS.

Fait ta config comme si les VLAN étaient la et test la connexion.

Oui, comme je disais, quand on est O5, selon la norme, c'est qu'on est O5, les VLANs sont sensés être visibles après l'authentification. Il faut donc paramétrer les options DHCP et demander un DHCPDISCOVER (lancer le client dhcp).

I will try to gather more info, and in the meantime I'll test CarlitoxxPro V2 at 1Gbit.
And also ordered a Huawei MA5671A.
If one of these works, I'm already 90% happy!

Besides, I remember you tested the FS 10Gbit media converter, am I right?
What did you find, and what were the testing conditions?
According to their website, it should support 2.5GBase-X and 2.5GBase-T...
