Hi there,
...
As far as I understand he gets the slow speeds due to the line beeing far way?
...
No, if we trust the data and plots you posted from the NB6V modem.
Line length is not the main problem, I believe.
Could you please post the value of Hlog(69) i.e. the value of Hlog at tone 69 ?
From the Hlog plot I reckon it should be around -36 dB.
Also, you had a resync ~2 hours after boot-up of your NB6V, according to the stats in Page_2.jpg.
Was that a spontaneous resync or was it provoked by you/yr friend?
And in view of the plots, the link rates of 3236/798 are suspiciously low, I believe. Something doesn't add up.
Your line is long(ish) but not
that long in my opinion.
But I haven't done any calcs, so pinch-of-salt.
INP (Impulse Noise Protection) is rather high (58) Downstream, but you must have PhyR on, so not clear how that affects the link rate. Some longish calcs needed here to see if INP comes from FEC or not. In generel higher INP means lower link rate if under FEC. Nothing you can do here.
The QLN plot shows several +10dB peaks that certainly do not help and are the cause of the corresponding SNR and bitloading notches.
SNR max values in the plot seem to me also pretty low. QLN too high ?
In addition, SNR and bitloading go to zero right after tone 300 instead of going all the way to around 500-ish, probably also because the target margin value in your ADSL profile is around 9 dB. Any idea on that value?
The strong difference in Bitloading between Upstream and Downstream bands (11-12 vs 7 bits at the top) is also suspicious: perhaps the line is unstable and SFR's line management sw has been taking corrective measures.
Alternatively the last resync took place under increased local noise levels, different on the 2 bands.
After all, the stats show high error levels just in the first 2 hrs, before the resync.
Just thinking aloud here.
Any idea what the current ADSL profile is ? See
https://assistance.sfr.fr/internet-tel-fixe/box-nb6/parametrer-connexion-box-profil-usage-internet.html . I would not touch that for now.
Anybody speaks french on yr side? That would be for SFR's phone support service...
Good luck.
