salut tout le monde!
sorry for using English. Unfortunately I don't speak French
I'm the German user who created this thread:
https://www.onlinekosten.de/forum/showthread.php?t=153872
My setup is a Gigabit FTTH ... 1000/500 max bandwidth in Germany lol ... from Deutsche Telekom using a Huawei MA5671A (since 08.2020) + UniFi XG 16 SFP+ Switch + pfsense which is working flawlessly
Original ONT is a HG8010. PLOAM Password and S/N cloning needed to still have the possibility to use the old ONT on the fly.
I've been following the thread here for a long time now ... well... with Google Translator ... and am happy about the useful contributions.
The French and maybe ALL other countries are "light years" ahead of us when it comes to Internet/FTTH.
But we have more and more users in Germany getting FTTH via GPON and also some users that would like to use their own modem.
Therefore I started to search for purchasing sources in Italy to get the Huawei modules beside ebay.
And to unlock them for users that don't have knowledge or soldering stuff, hardware etc. to do the mod.
I am currently trying to modify the Nokia module with a more generic OMCI client in order to get it fully working with Huawei OLTs. Nokia module have a better availability ebay, Alibaba etc. with higher quantities.
I already patched the required parts in the rootfs of a Nokia firmware containing the omcid, tried to crossflash a different firmware and tried to use the Huawei omcid. But no luck until now
Was anyone able to get this working?
Stay healthy!
Cheers
Lieber @KernelMaker

Let's continue in English.
If you manage to significantly modify the OMCI client to make it more permissive, easily configurable, then your work is welcome here. I will try to follow the debates a bit from your place.
We have up-n-atom, the author of the HSGMII BMC57810S patch, often hanging out here. Thanks be to him. Italian readers have found useful information to replace the standard ONT at FastWeb italy.
Links are forged between the threads of discussions around the world, to share know-how allowing interoperability.
Undoubtedly a repository of the git type would be relevant to participate all together in a development of firmware that is a little freed and more easily usable, in order to offer an interoperability framework preventing a little too hazardous connections which could possibly molest certain trees .
And above all, keep in mind that putting pressure on bandwidths will push operators to advance the deployment of XGsPON 10Gbps.
