Iliad and Free using DPOE, Docsis over EPON, seems strange to me, as DOCSIS is used in cable Networks, and Free in France as no such networks, and so no need to be compatible with them. Perhaps in Italy ? You are doing your tests for reverse ingeneering in France or Italy, or both ?
Symmetrical mode: That is, the uplink and downlink rates are both 10G. The asymmetric mode can be considered as a transitional form of the symmetric mode. In the early stage where the upstream bandwidth demand is less and the cost is more sensitive, the asymmetric mode can be used. With the development of business and technological progress, it will gradually transition to an asymmetrical model.
Hi all, I'm an Iliad Italy customer since February 2022, currently I have offer with Freepop + SFP WTD RTXM166-401-C13.Currently Iliad allows connection in Net Neutrality (free modem / router as per Italian regulation). In that case the Freepop is not delivered but a ONU F-MDONU05A.Iliad indicates only those 2 compatible routers also because they only have 1gbe ports since the indicated ONU (not the Free-pro one) only has 1gbe output. We have currently bought some French ONUs from ebay.fr to do reverse engineering and understand how Iliad/Free authenticates its ONU on the 10g-EPON network. We are making small steps forward but still without success. The purpose of the test is to have 5gbe on a single device with an Sfp+ ONU that can authenticate on the 10g-EPON network.First cons, seems not to exist ONUs in sfp+ format, with mac included that supports asymmetric 10g-epon (1310/1577 bandwith)Second cons, it seems Iliad and Free are using DPOE (Docsis over Epon https://www.cablelabs.com/specifications-library/dpoe) at least for the Freepop provisioning, we're investigating if this method is used also in Net neutrality implementation.
It does exist. Tibit and CIG (XE-99S) have one SFP+ with mac for 10GEPONI have many in my lab for XGSPON. The issue is more about the OCMI interop
