Un brevet publié par Microsoft veut empêcher le partage de fichiers piratés dans Windows.

Le bureau de l’U.S. Patent Trade Office vient de rendre public ce brevet de Microsoft, que l'entreprise aurait déposé dès 2015. Son objectif: marquer les fichiers illégaux à l'aide du système d'exploitation Windows, limiter leur utilisation et empêcher leur diffusion. Pour arriver à ses fins, le système développé par Microsoft identifie les fichiers contenant du "contenu interdit" et placés sur des espaces de stockage partagé – de type "cloud". Une fois le fichier marqué par Microsoft, son utilisation et son partage sont surveillés, et peuvent même être bloqués si nécessaire.

Les éditeurs de logiciels et les ayants-droits de contenus numériques (musique, films...) sont perpétuellement à la recherche de moyens efficaces pour lutter contre le piratage. Ce brevet de Microsoft pourrait changer la donne, en s'attaquant directement au stockage des fichiers hackés et à leur mode de diffusion auprès du grand public. Le système prévoit également de constituer pour chaque utilisateur un historique des récidives éventuelles, pour au final lui retirer certains droits d'accès et de partage des fichiers.

Aucune date n'a été officiellement communiquée quant à la mise en place concrète de ce brevet US 20150143466 A1 de Microsoft, mais pour bon nombre d'utilisateurs de Windows, nul doute que ce serait une véritable révolution.

Bref c'est la même recherche qu'ils font pour détecter les "spyware".
