Today the French mobile operator Free/Iliad, launched its fiber offering in Italy, similar to Sky for the lack of IPv4 the Iliad fiber uses MAP-E and a 4in6 tunnel (rfc2473).
In France it uses since 2015 in non-densely populated areas a version of MAP-E a moment acerbic apparently from French forums, also often referred to as 4rd (although it has nothing to do with RFC 7600), as configuration from DHCPv6 does not seem possible.
The operator offers very high speeds in terms of Gbps, despite this in areas where the deployment of ftth is older offers the classic speed of 1Gbps. A keenetic router as long as it works well could be a good solution for cities where there is the maximum limit of 1Gbps (like Milan, Turin and Bologna, 3 of the most important cities in Italy).
From the guides for the free router it seems that it is possible to configure IPv4 even without MAP-E support, most likely it is part of a separate pool to offer IP 1:1 to those who request it, through a 4in6 tunnel (rfc2473). If the router supports MAP-E in Italy, at least from the first information it seems that it can be configured by DHCPv6 (unlike in France).

Iliad and Free using DPOE, Docsis over EPON, seems strange to me, as DOCSIS is used in cable Networks, and Free in France as no such networks, and so no need to be compatible with them. Perhaps in Italy ? You are doing your tests for reverse ingeneering in France or Italy, or both ?

Perhaps in Italy ? You are doing your tests for reverse ingeneering in France or Italy, or both ?DPoE 2.0 seems to be often use. All other vendors are implementing it with their ONU:
Symmetrical mode: That is, the uplink and downlink rates are both 10G. The asymmetric mode can be considered as a transitional form of the symmetric mode. In the early stage where the upstream bandwidth demand is less and the cost is more sensitive, the asymmetric mode can be used. With the development of business and technological progress, it will gradually transition to an asymmetrical model.
Hi all, I'm an Iliad Italy customer since February 2022, currently I have offer with Freepop + SFP WTD RTXM166-401-C13.It does exist. Tibit and CIG (XE-99S) have one SFP+ with mac for 10GEPON
Currently Iliad allows connection in Net Neutrality (free modem / router as per Italian regulation). In that case the Freepop is not delivered but a ONU F-MDONU05A.
Iliad indicates only those 2 compatible routers also because they only have 1gbe ports since the indicated ONU (not the Free-pro one) only has 1gbe output.
We have currently bought some French ONUs from ebay.fr to do reverse engineering and understand how Iliad/Free authenticates its ONU on the 10g-EPON network.
We are making small steps forward but still without success. The purpose of the test is to have 5gbe on a single device with an Sfp+ ONU that can authenticate on the 10g-EPON network.
First cons, seems not to exist ONUs in sfp+ format, with mac included that supports asymmetric 10g-epon (1310/1577 bandwith)
Second cons, it seems Iliad and Free are using DPOE (Docsis over Epon https://www.cablelabs.com/specifications-library/dpoe) at least for the Freepop provisioning, we're investigating if this method is used also in Net neutrality implementation.
It does exist. Tibit and CIG (XE-99S) have one SFP+ with mac for 10GEPONThose are all using symmetrical wavelength bandwidth (1270nm, 1577nm, equ. PR30). Our ISP is using asymmetrical wavelength bandwidth (1310nm, 1577nm, equ. PRX30).
I have many in my lab for XGSPON. The issue is more about the OCMI interop
